Mata Hari

Item Description

In real life, Mata Hari was apparently entrancing - she seduced a host of military men in order to gain state secrets, blazing bright among First World War spies...before dying in front of a firing squad.
This little lady embodies the allure of Mata Hari before the bullet holes - bedecked in lace, pearls and vintage rhinestones, daring you to resist her charms.

Standing approx. 13 1/2" (34cm) tall, she is made of cotton coated with several layers of paint; details were added using pastels, pencils, and ink.
She is jointed at shoulder and hip, so can sit very nicely on a shelf.
Her jewels were hand-strung in position using a variety of vintage beads, and her multi-toned pink hair is decorated with a pair of splendidly lavish rhinestone clips. Layers of turquoise and aubergine lace are swagged into a suitably theatrical skirt.

Although all the joints and beading were stitched with strong thread, Mata Hari is not suitable for younger children. Or puppies.
